Mission

The Health Care Training Academy-Nevada provides continuing education that bridges the gap between theory and practice so that nurses may choose to develop a relevant professional practice that optimizes optimizes career opportunity and mobility. The HCTA-NV mission is built upon the beliefs that continuing education should:

• Be designed to meet the educational needs of adult learners
• Include mentorship as the basis for educational and professional support
• Use current research to enhance professional practice and provide the basis for clinical decision making
• Provide relevant educational activities that enhance the quality of care and care delivery while promoting a culture of safety for both health care consumers and professional nurses.

A collaboration of seasoned nurse educators and nurse employers drew upon the  National Council State Boards of Nursing Transition into Practice Model and the Commission of Collegiate Nursing’s Nurse Residency Program Accreditation Guidelines in order to develop the innovative transition into practice curriculum. Educational offerings are grouped into career paths:

• Leading the Patient Care Team
• Managing Patient Outcomes
• Managing the Changing Patient Condition
• Professional Role Development

Course delivery-learn in an online, interactive environment

The Health Care Training Academy continuing education modules/activities are employer driven and are designed to meet the career needs of professional nurses. Course and activities are designed to stimulate learning in an interactive online environment in which teaching/learning strategies include comprehensive case studies, discussions, and application of concepts which are clinically based.

Each course or activity generates from 2 to 30 contact hours, uses current evidence to support concept development and focuses on knowledge, attitide and skill development. CEUs are distributed upon successful completion of course outcomes.

Partnership in learning

Nurse mentors are assigned to assist participants as they engage with the course materials. Mentors are practice experts and are committed to assuring success in courses that are individually selected to meet learning and professional development needs.

Approved Continuing Education Provider

The Health Care Training Academy-NV is an approved as a continuing education provider (Provider Number NV 000615) by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
